Places are being held for our 13th March - 20th March 2027 Amazonian Expedition - come and find out more about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with Operation Wallacea, an award-winning conservation and research organisation with over 30 years of experience running safe, structured adventure travel for students.
Students on this expedition work directly alongside academics and field scientists collecting real biodiversity data, data that's published and used to inform genuine conservation outcomes in one of the most remote and biodiverse regions on Earth.
What's included:

8 days based aboard a historically restored Amazon rubber-boom research ship, moored on the banks of the lower Yarapa River
* Rotating through boat-based surveys of pink and grey river dolphins, fish community surveys, and macaw and wading bird counts
* Foot-based surveys in the vãrzea forest, including camera-trap surveys for big cats, tapir, peccary and deer, and primate distance sampling across 8 species
* After-dark surveys of fish, bats, amphibians and caiman

* Hands-on experience with academics across mammology, ornithology, herpetology, invertebrates, botany, GIS/statistical analysis and conservation management
* Working alongside local Peruvian staff, with the chance to pick up some basic Spanish
* A safe, unforgettable way to experience the largest protected seasonally flooded forest in South America and the only Opwall site where you'll find pink and grey river dolphins
